Caffeine and Stress - Is One Way to Relieve Stress Good For You?

It seems like finding ways to relieve stress is a dime a dozen these days. A quick Google search will yield thousands of articles telling you how you can stop procrastination, improve your immune system, improve your focus, and so forth. While those may be true, most of them are more talk than help. Actually, all the promises of better, more focused, healthier, more alert people could be making, but few are delivering on that promise.

The reason that most of these tips are fallacious is that stress is not a feeling, at least not usually. Feeling stressed is an emotion. A lot of people who are stressed out and complaining are having a very real emotional problem - they are simply trying to cope with the feelings of being stressed. A real stress management technique for the mind/body would address the cause of the stress. For most people, that means learning how to relax properly so that the body can better deal with it and relieve the stress by releasing energy more effectively.

The biggest stressors in our lives tend to be the things we can't change. For example, if someone is always late for work no matter how many times you tell them they're late, then they become the stressor. Other things that tend to stress us out are our expectations of other people, our financial situation, our weight, our appearance, and many other things that we cannot change. Therefore, we find ourselves feeling stressed out by all the things in life we cannot control.

One of the best things you can do to relieve stress is to exercise regularly. In fact, one of the best ways to manage stress is exercise. When you exercise regularly, your body releases endorphins (a natural "happy" drug) which make you feel good. You may feel elated and light-headed when you exercise. This will not only help you in managing your stress levels, but it also provides a very healthy environment for you to exercise in.

If you are someone who is unable to exercise regularly, or you find yourself dreading the exercises because of the way it makes you feel, then you should consider reducing your caffeine consumption. If you find yourself taking coffee or tea in the morning then reducing your intake will reduce your stress level. Also, if you find your anxiety increases when you consume caffeine, you should stop drinking coffee and instead drink green tea, which has very little caffeine content. Green tea may also have many other health benefits.

There are also several ways to relieve stress and help lower anxiety that don't involve caffeine consumption or exercise. Meditation is one way that you can do this. Meditation is a method in which you focus your mind on one object for a certain amount of time. This can help lower your stress level by allowing you to focus your mind. Another one way that meditation can help you is by releasing the tension that you feel on your muscles. You can also read these healthy living tips!
